Due to the success in collecting the natural scallop spat, scallop farming rapidly spread in the Mutsu Bay of Aomori prefecture in the middle of the 1960s. We have been producing scallop farming net products since the middle of 1960s, delivering high performance in the market and now we have our own factory overseas as our main production base.
Scallop nets mainly have two types of shape such as square pyramid shaped net（Square net a.k.a. Pearl net) and cylindrical shaped net（Lantern net). We have got a number of patents and utility models which have derived from many years of our experience.
Square net (Pearl net)
Square nets consist of a net cloth, steel frame and rope and is used for growing small scallop spats just after spat collection. Mesh sizes of net cloth varies such as 3mm ~ 12mm for raschel net cloth and 7.5mm ~ 15mm for knotted net cloth according to spat size.

2. Frame
- Standard item（using steel wires of standalized thickness and content ratio of raw materials etc.)

The standard square frame has square 35 centimeters on a side. We have various thickness of steel wires such as #12(2.7mm), #11(2.9mm), #10(3.1mm), #9.5(3.2mm), #8(4.0mm), #6(5.0mm), #5(5.5mm) and various colors such as blue, navy, green, pink, black etc.
3. Rope
We produce PE monofilaments in-house, cut them at specified length and then inspect them to assembly.
Our ropes are also suitable for ear hanging and hanging scallop nets and we can produce our ropes in any combination of color. (Minimum order quantity requirement applied for special order products)

Square frame
Square frames, a main material for square nets, use PVC coated steel wires. A square frame is made of an outer frame and two beams fixed in place. However, the square frames can be damaged by sea water due to the slippages between the outer frame and beams which causes the PVC coating coming off from steel wires.
So, we have been working on the following refinements for many years.

Lantern net
Lantern nets have multi-story storage compartments which can moves scallops in/out quickly. The sylindrical lantern nets are suitable for large scallops as well as small scallops and they can be used for cropping excess scallops as well.
We can produce the lantern net in any diameter.(38cm, 40cm, 45cm, 50cm etc.)
We are always working on refinements such as the mouth opening for increasing work speed and the structure for preventing deformation of frames.

Pocket net
Pocket nets are suiltable for farming large scallops after the intermediate culture phase.
Scallops can grow in a pocket indivisulally stress-free and the curtain shape prevents clashes with each other in the sea.

Rubber rope
Usually, floats are used for floating the scallop farming facilities under the sea but the scallops in the nets can be easily damaged by sea waves which move the culture nets vertically. The rubber ropes absorb the vertical movements to stabilize the scallop nets in the sea.

Spat collection bags are used for collecting scallop spats in early srpring.

Other scallop farming methods
Bottom culture ・・・ Scallops after interim culture stage are grown on the seafloor and then harvested a couple of years later.
Ear hanging・・・ A tiny hole is drilled in the left and right anterior ear of the scallop shells and then hanged on a rope.
The fishers choose the suitable methods according to the sea environment.
